Jan17 Gingham Drapes & More DIY 2013
First off, can I say that I have the best readers? Apparently, I’m not the only one pulling off the-mineral-foundation-in-the-car-stunt every Sunday. Ah, you all make me laugh so hard.
Keller’s “man room” is beginning to shape up quite nicely. It helps that my sister is coming in to town next week and will be occupying this very room.
These gingham drapes were completed over the weekend. I used my birthday fabric and went the whole 9 yards and lined these babies and everything.
They’re not going anywhere anytime soon I can tell you that.
I thought my first real try at lining drapes was going to be a big pain in the neck.
But the real trouble came when I went to hang the curtain rod.
And I HATE waiting lists.
So I’ve been braving our cold garage all by myself and picking out various and a sundry “man tools” for my projects.
Which, could take up an entire morning in and of itself.
Here’s what I gathered for my simple drapery-rod-hanging-session yesterday morning:
That is messed up.
First, I had to remove the existing drapery rod in order to move it up a few inches higher. {I know, I know, you’re simply aghast at my level of difficulty.}
Problem was, I couldn’t get the darn thing out of the wall.
This could very well be the problem.
In case you’ve never ended the life of a screw either, this is what it should look like…
In the midst of my frustration I found myself pausing for a moment and actually considered saving that screw – and several others I’d ruined – for possible future projects. I gathered my wits about me and threw them in the trash.
I finally gave up on being able to remove that bracket. Instead, I found another set in our stash of man tools and just mounted an extra one on top of it. Only, I couldn’t get one of the screws in all of the way {stud maybe?}. So I just left the screw jutting out of the wall. “I’ll fix it later,” I tell myself.
Once the drape is hanging you can’t really tell. Except if you’re looking at it at an angle like here:
Better than a gaping hole in the wall I always say.
And after much ado, they’re finally hung…
